Youth Hosting

It looks like we will be taking in another teenager this evening.  Please pray that all would go smoothly.  Pray also for the home and family that will be hosting her.

School is in

With school back in session we have been fielding calls regarding Safe Families.  I’ve had the opportunity to meet with multiple people about the possibility of utilizing a Safe Family host home.  Please continue to pray that as people come forward asking for assistance we as a church body are able to meet those needs.  Additionally, pray for those that work in the school system and are connected to these families on a daily basis.

Gift Cards

We have begun collecting gift cards for host families.  These will be kept as “stock on hand” so we are able to help host families as needs arise.  Thank you to all who have dropped cards by so far.  If you would like to get involved in this manner you can purchase gift cards for fuel, clothing, groceries or restaurants.  Fred Meyer has been a popular choice as those cards are good for most of the items above.  You can drop them by the Edgewater office, just label them Safe Families and leave them with the receptionist.  Thank you, enjoy your Labor Day weekend.

Mentor Training

Thank you to all who came to mentor training on Tuesday night.  We had nearly 40 people there.  It is encouraging to see so many people willing to help out.

Church Family Thank You

We as a church family received a sweet thank you card from one of our hosted teens.  She is grateful and excited for the gift cards that many of us pitched in for her birthday celebration.  She plans on doing some back to school shopping.

Mentor Training

Just a reminder today- we will have mentor training Tuesday, August 30th at the church office.  Training will begin at 6:00 pm and will take a couple hours.  This training is for anyone who signed up to be a mentor, family host or family coach.

All Safe Family Volunteers!

All volunteers and their families are welcome to join us this Sunday evening August 21st for some fun at the Caveman pool. We’ll hang out from 5:30 to 7:30. We will provide the swimming the food and the games. You provide the family. See you there!
